The Awkwardstra, or ‘Awks’ as we are more commonly known, was established in 2014 as an eclectic group consisting of a couple of violins, a viola, a saxophone, even a harmonica and has now settled into an ever growing strings and woodwind chamber group (complete with Harp!).
From photographers, students, heritage consultants, lecturers, to even a wedding planner, this interesting assortment of musicians make up this keen group, driven by the enthusiasm of our maestro Daemon Clark. We are always welcoming of new players and regularly perform at Sunday markets and for family and friends.
Abba’s Mamma Mia, Coldplay’s Viva La Vida, Bach’s Brandenburg Concerto No. 3, The Beatles Eleanor Rigby, and Schubert’s Unfinished Symphony No. 8.
The ‘Awks’ meet from mid-January all the way through to mid-December in the open space at Building 304, Curtin University on Wednesday nights, 7.00pm until 9.00pm.
